Take a look at this stunning Downtown Detroit Proposal set in The Apparatus Room, of The Detroit Foundation Hotel.
When Ben contacted me in early November to get plans in line for a stunning slightly-“styled” surprise proposal in Downtown Detroit for his girlfriend Janya, I was so excited to get started! We scheduled a phone call to get the idea wheels turning for how to make this perfect for her.
The excitement within our conversation grew as our thoughts and considerations became a seamless plan. He mentioned some things she likes to help me narrow down a good location to make this all happen. Lights, wine, arches… I figured The Apparatus Room at the iconic Detroit Foundation Hotel would be a perfect match for all the things! And an absolutely perfect spot for photos.
I set up early the day of and coordinated with the bar staff and let the guests sitting around the area know that there would be a proposal happening. Having the bystanders “in” on the plan really helps things go smoothly. Upon their arrival, they went right to the open chairs that I had held. They grabbed a drink, and following the queues we had set up, things couldn’t have gone better.
The plan was for Ben to get up at 3:30 to officially propose. And right on time, it went like this…
Once we finished up with the Apparatus Room, we went outside to capture some of the magic that is the face of The Detroit Foundation Hotel.
Next, we jumped in my car and headed to the next location. Campus Martius, such a beautiful place during the holiday season. I made the arches, and lights theme subtle throughout the rest of their session. And it worked, so well.
Planning a proposal doesn’t have to be super stressful if you find someone who has lots of experience watching people get engaged. (Check out another one here!) So if you or someone you know is planning to pop the question, hit me up! I’d be happy to help you plan the perfect scenario for your significant other.
Here are a few behind-the-scenes shots!
