You Popped the Question, Now What?

We just got engaged, now what!?

When it comes to the wild world of Weddings and Social Media it’s easy to get caught up in a frenzy. After all, you just got engaged (that ring looks FABULOUS, by the way), and it’s time to party! Right?

Unfortunately, most couples find it difficult to enjoy the process of planning a wedding. Expectations of family, outside pressure, having that “Instagram Worthy” shot of your big day. It doesn’t leave much room for error or even enjoyment. Never fear, I’m here today to gift you at least 3 tips for making your trip to the big day a mindful one you can actually enjoy!

Tip 1- Breathe

This might sound underwhelming but hear me out. Breathing is the core of your being. Its what brings us back to our center- no matter how many big emotions we are experiencing. Some of the many benefits of breath work in your day are better and deeper sleep, healthy blood pressure levels, reductions in feelings of trauma and PTSD, respiratory strength, positive hormonal impact, and even a better immune system.

Let’s be honest, everything about weddings is intense- but you can mindfully flow through the emotions you want to experience on your wedding day and all the days leading to it. This is all in an effort to support you and your Partners journey to becoming One with as much bliss and ease as possible.

Breathwork is so easy to Incorporate. With it being completely free, all it costs is your time and perhaps an app subscription if you’d like to track and set timers, everyone can do this!

All it takes is stopping and breathing in slowly through your nose counting to four, holding at the top for four counts, and then even more slowly exhaling it all out.

Need an App? Insights Timer is a great free resource!

Tip 2- Exercise with Your Partner

*Insert Heart Eyes Here*

I don’t know about you but there is something about my Partner being nice and sweaty that just takes all the rainclouds out of my day! Working up a good sweat regularly helps improve mood and cognitive functions! Carve some consistent time out each week to connect by doing something fun with your partner and not talking about wedding planning AT ALL. That’s right, not a word. This might take some practice actually!

I suggest trying new things together like;
Roller Skating,
Soccer,
Ultimate Football,
Frisbee Golf,
Dance Classes,
Hiking,
Swimming,
Yoga,
Hot Yoga,
Weight Training,
Horseback Riding,
Zumba- the list goes on.

These moments are meant to get your bodies warm and your minds relaxing into love and connection. All the technical stuff can wait, but heating up your body and getting some sweaty kisses from your Partner can’t hurt the process in any way, that’s a promise!

Tip 3- Delegate

Most people have at least a few friends, family members, or heck- even coworkers- that want to help see your Wedding day as a complete success! If not I recommend saving and hiring out. No matter what way you go about it though, remember that it’s okay to ask for help when things feel overwhelming. Beginning a new chapter in life as ‘Married People’ can be quite a lot to process. You don’t have to do it alone. The other side of this is to delegate to people who are really good teammates for you. If your family and friends aren’t listening to you to make your day YOURS, then circle back to the “hire a professional” might be a good move for you! I know, Aunt Kathy might have been making wedding cakes since the 80s but if her eight-tier cake daydreams are more important than your minimal and modern wedding style then you might have a few issues. Save the tension and hire someone!

BONUS TIP- Hit Magan up for your Wedding Photography needs. She is the perfect woman to help your day flow as smoothly as possible- and grab that Instagram-worthy shot you might have been stressing about, go ahead and take that off your plate, she’s got you.
